(Spoiler: Please don\u2019t do that.)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What you do <em>after<\/em> you apply or interview can be just as important as your resume or how you answered the question, \u201cTell me about yourself.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here we share how to follow up the right way\u2014professionally, confidently, and without overstepping.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-send-a-thank-you-note\">Send a thank you note\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After an interview, whether it\u2019s over the phone, virtual, or in-person, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shrm.org\/membership\/students\/importance-post-interview-thank-e-mail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">send a thank you note<\/a> to the person you spoke to within 24 hours. It doesn\u2019t need to be a novel. Please let me know if there\u2019s anything else I can provide. Looking forward to hearing from you!&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-check-in-after-the-interview-if-you-haven-t-heard-back\">Check in after the interview (if you haven\u2019t heard back)\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you haven\u2019t received an update within the timeline mentioned during the interview\u2014or after about <strong>7\u201310 business days<\/strong>\u2014it\u2019s appropriate to send a polite check-in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep it friendly and professional. It might look like this:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Hi [Interviewer\u2019s Name], I wanted to thank you again for the opportunity to speak with you last week about the [Job Title] position. I really enjoyed learning more about the team and your approach to [something discussed]. I\u2019m still very interested in the role and would love to know if there are any updates you can share on the hiring timeline.&#8221;<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-stay-on-their-radar-without-being-pushy\">Stay on their radar without being pushy\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you still haven\u2019t heard back after your follow-up, don\u2019t spam their inbox with multiple emails.
