Here we outline five tips on how to review resumes like a professional. Whether you\u2019re new to hiring or looking to streamline your process, these tips will help you make informed, efficient decisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scan before you read  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Some resumes may be beautifully written, but hiring isn\u2019t a writing contest. First, do a quick scan. Think of this as your \u201cfirst impression\u201d filter before diving into details. Look for: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Length: ideally 1-2 pages.  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                    Did the candidate tailor their resume for this job, or are they firing off the same one-size-fits-all version?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    Clues they took the time: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    1. They mention a job title that matches yours. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                      1. The summary or objective speaks directly to your company\u2019s industry or needs.  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                        1. Skills and experience are prioritized in a way that feels like a fit. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                          Intentional resumes are usually the best indicators of someone who\u2019s truly interested. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          Know when to trust your gut (and when not to) <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                          Sometimes a resume just feels right. Great layout, relevant experience, and a solid story. Trust that instinct \u2013 but back it up with evidence. On the other hand, if something feels off, dig a little deeper before you decide.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
