On the business side, maintaining a competitive edge means blending innovation and pricing with employee perks and retention. In both cases, keeping valued employees happy and on the payroll is a given. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.payscale.com\/cbpr\">PayScale<\/a> has released its 2019 report about practices a that promise to guide you in keeping employees during competitive times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top Reasons for Leaving a Job<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018 a study was done on the\ntop reasons employees left current positions. The top three account for over\n60% for the representative sample of over 7,000 respondents. The data is listed\nfrom the highest and reveals a vital trend for you to consider as part of\nretention planning:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Personal reasons<\/li><li>Professional advancement<\/li><li>Better compensation elsewhere<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trends in Employee Perks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This data provides a\nrevealing balance to that of reasons for leaving. Roughly one third of\norganizations are now offering:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Flex time\u2014this benefit permits employees to care for\nfamily, pursue advanced education, or other life goals.<\/li><li>Remote work interests by some employees is receiving\nmore employer support.<\/li><li>Paid family leave supports employees who are caring\nfor a new family member, senior relatives, or a loved one who is ill.<\/li><li>10% of organizations are instituting 4-day work weeks\nthat offer these and other advantages for employees.<\/li><li>The report describes a recent doubling in\norganizations offering paid time off (PTO) that benefits employee well-being.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Compensation Trends and Retention<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The report projects increased\norganizational interest in compensation incentives to boost retention. These\ninclude:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Increases in base pay rates.<\/li><li>More variable pay benefits for high performing\nemployees. One example is the award of bonuses outside of annual salary.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these positive\nchanges, organizations are still reluctant to be transparent with wage scales.\nOne finding of the PayScale research is that employees of businesses that focus\non a \u201cstrong pay brand\u201d are more satisfied.
